Tomorrow is the FREE day at Fort Discovery from 10-5pm

Wesley UMC is having t ball for ages 3-5 from July to September, indoors. It is $30 and if interested just give the church a call and ask for Mike Feaster. They will have practice once a week and games on Saturdays.

West Acres Baptist MOPS update to group

Hi to all. By now most of you, if not all, know our group at West Acres will not be next year. Many women were feeling called to different areas of ministry, however one of our moms, Jenny Berk, has felt led to continue this ministry at her church Christ the King Lutheran. Please check the blog for the latest information on Jenny's group. She is looking for women called to be on steering team so please call or email her if you feel led.

This summer we will still have get togethers and they will all be posted here. If you have ideas or would like to plan a get together please send me a comment and I can post it for everyone.

On April 21st there will be a special Kids Day at the Columbia County Library (Evans Library) from 9:30 to 11:30am, sponsored by MCG. I don't know more about it but worth checking out if you are in the area.

Big Car and Truck Show-update

Big Car and Truck Show planning meeting

We are having another fundraiser meeting on April 9th at 6:30pm at the Daily Grind in Evans. The Daily Grind is located in the shopping center across from Wal-Mart. It's in the same center as Goolsby's and a new taco place. This will be the last planning meeting before the fundraiser except for the next steering team meeting. Please join us if y0u will be in town.

Child Care will now be available for moms helping during the truck show so please call or email Abbie if you can help out now that we have child care. We are still in need of moms to help make this a great event. The child care will be from 9-2pm.

If you know of anyone with large vehicles that would be interested in being at the show please invite them. We still have room for more.

MOPS this week

Hi Ladies. This Thursday we will be learning Self Defense. Mrs. Gena Prazer, a 4th degree black belt from ATA martial arts will be teaching us from 10:45am to 11:45. Please wear comfortable clothing to participate, however if you aren't up for the physical part you should still pick up some important information by observing. This meeting is open to all so please invite any women of any age that you think would like to learn how to defend themselves if they need to. If someone is attending for the first time or just for this meeting and will need child care please call Stephanie @ 706-854-8203 to make arrangements.

McDonalds and Salad Creations

Just a reminder that we will have a get together at the remodeled McDonalds on Washington in front of Kmart at 10:30 tomorrow.

We will also have a planning meeting at Salad Creations on N. Belair at 6:30pm on Thursday for the Big Truck Show scheduled for April 19 from 10-2pm.

Hello Ladies, Tomorrow we will be having a chocolate tasting so skip breakfast and save room. We will even learn how to smell chocolate just like wine. Should be interesting!!

Mark your calenders for the upcoming MOPS and POPS night out. March 8th from 7-9pm we will meet at the Putt- Putt in Martinez. If you register before the 8th the cost is $15 per couple. If you show up that night it will be $30 per couple so sign up early. The cost includes a 2 hour unlimited attraction wristband for laser tag, miniature golf, bumper boats, and the indoor play area, 2 batting cage tokens, 25 game room tokens, 1 hour party room, dipping dots, soft drinks and 2 slices of pizza.
Childcare will be provided on an as need basis by Christ the King Lutheran Church on Evans to Lock Rd from 6:30- 9:30pm. Please see Jenny Berk about the childcare and to reserve your spot for the evening.

Get together on Tuesday February 19th at 10:30 am at the McDonalds on Washington in front of the Kmart.

moms and tots get together & marriage training

With the cold we thought it would be nice to get together where moms can talk and kids can play safely together. On January 28th from 10-1pm come join other MOPS moms and kids at the Warren Road Community Center for their Kindergym program. Warren Road is off Washington near Fury's Ferry. The cost is $2 per child ages 4 and under. Bring lunch and have an indoor picnic with your little ones. If it's nice enough they have a wonderful playground for all ages as well.

Need a day to spend with your spouse and improve on what God has given you?
Loving Your Spouse with Excellence will be on February 5, 2008 at Martinez Baptist Church from 9-noon or 6-9pm. The cost is $20 per person or $30 per couple. Register at www.crossroadsaugusta.org or at 706-364-1270.

Prayers needed and stroller returned

Please be in prayer for Abbie, our coordinator. Her father, Tim Britt is in St. Joseph's in Atlanta and is having bypass surgery tomorrow morning. She would tell all of you that she is a daddy's girl so this is extremely difficult for her. Please keep her, her father, and entire family in your prayers.

Next Meeting & "The Christmas Gift"

The next meeting is on December 13th.

"The Christmas Gift" will be presented at The Bell on December 9th at 5 and 7:30 pm. The is a joint venture with Macedonia and Warren Baptist to exemplify unity in the CSRA. The concert is free, any donations will go to Augusta's homeless. More information at www.warrenbaptist.org . These choirs will also be performing in the parade on the 8th in Downtown Augusta.

Columbia County Ballet's The New Nutcracker is Saturday November 17th, at 5 and 8pm and Sunday November 18th at 3pm. They are also having an event called Tea and Tutus on Saturday November 17th from 12 to 1pm. Visit www.columbiacountyballet.com for more information.

Dance Augusta will be performing The Nutcracker on November 23rd at 7pm and on the 24th and 25th at 1 and 5pm. They are offering group discounts for more information go to www.augustaballetschool.org .

Deena Youngblood a former MOPS mom wanted to let everyone know that her childcare service will be providing Black Friday(day after Thanksgiving) child care. She will have two sessions (9am to 3pm) and (3pm to 9pm). During that time the kids will have fun with arts and crafts, games and more. Lunch will be provided at noon for the 1st session and supper at 6pm for the second session. The cost is $20 per session (that is less than $4.00 per hour). If you need more information please call Deena at 706-650-1183. Everyone must preregister. She is limited to 10 children per session.

Please be thinking about our next fundraiser "The Singing Christmas Card". We have yet to pick the date or dates,(sometime in December) but consider signing up to sing(with or without your family) and to purchase(a donation, whatever you feel led to share) a "Card" for someone in the area. If you know of anyone who would love carrollers on their front steps to remind them of the joy and wonder of Christmas please sign them up. We will also go to nursing homes if you know of one that would be particularly blessed with our group please pass on the information.

The Covenant Presbyterian Church has reserved a boat for the Petersburg boat tour for 3pm on Saturday. They have many seats still available. The price is $10 for ages 5 and up. This means you can take all your kids 4 and under for free. Life jackets are required and provided for the kids. The price includes entrance into the museum as well at 2pm. This is a great tour, very educational and fun for the kids and adults. The money to reserve a space must be turned into the church on Thursday. If anyone in interested please make your reservation with Hillary Williamson and have your money as well on Thursday.

The Greater Augusta Arts Council is having a benefit at the new Earth Faire. The menu looks amazing and for a donation of $10 you get an earth friendly Earth Faire tote for your future shopping at the store or wherever. This is on Tuesday November 13th from 6-8pm. This might me a nice fancy(but relatively cheap) night out for couples. I will have the menu information with me at the meeting on Thursday.

A Huge thank you to all the amazing giving women that showed up to help with the Trick or Treat so Others Can Eat table and showed up in support of the event. It was a packed event so lets hope we reached some moms that really need MOPS in their lives.

We did it. We sold enough to have the fundraiser but you can still continue to sell tickets untill Thursday November 1, 2007. Please call Kim Galvan if and when you sell anymore. She will begin calling today to start scheduling everyone. The photo shoots will be scheduled for Friday and Saturday. Please let Kim know if you can help with any time slots as well. We need to have one person there at all times to help with registration etc.

Art's A Way

Bring a snack or a dessert to share.

Cost is 5$ and up, depending on what you make. Many selections are $10-15. Cost includes our time there that night, materials, paint, etc. After you make your masterpiece they glaze it and you can pick it up a few days later.

Fort Gordon Get Together Canceled...but wait

The weather has thwarted our plans for a trip to the playground. As an alternative, we will be getting together at Chick-Fil-A at Mullins Crossings at 11:00. This gives you a chance to eat and the children a chance to play.

MOPPETS Spots Available

We are getting really close to needing to start a waiting list for MOPPETS. I really hate this and am working closely with our Steering Team and Children's Ministry Director to come up with a solution so that we will not have to create a waiting list. As for now, here is where we stand:

MOPPETS spots available include:
9-18 mths: 1
18-24 mths: 5
2 years: 5
3-5 years: 1

So, if you have not registered and are planning on it, please do so soon! If we have to create a waiting list, please join and know that you will still be able to participate in other activities with your discussion group. Waiting list moms will be able to attend the meeting if they can seek outside childcare.

We will be discussing waiting list policies soon and I will post those so everyone can be informed. I hate to have to do this and am praying we will be able to find volunteers soon. I know how important just four hours a month can be when it comes to needing a break. Please know I am doing everything I can to make sure you can receive the break you so need.

Picture Fundraiser

West Acres MOPS is currently having a fundraiser for our group. We are selling certificates for a free 10X13 picture of your child or children up to age 16. The picture is a black & white formal picture with a color splash. Pictures will be at West Acres Baptist Church on November 3rd and 4th. You will not need to bring anything except your child or children. The cost of certificates is $10.

Get together Friday at Fort Gordon Playgrounds

Hi Ladies. We are having another get together this Friday at the playgrounds at Fort Gordon. We will meet from 10-12 so please bring a lunch. This area is for all different ages so bring all the kids. Please invite any of your mom friends to come join us and see what MOPS is all about.

From Grovetown: Take Robinson Ave south to Gate 2. Once in, it's Range Road. Go straight, then take a right on 13th ave. Take a left on 15th st. and follow that past Lane ave and past 105th-111th Ave. Follow the road to the left where it becomes North Ridge Road. You'll see a fence and the stables on the left. If gate 2 is closed, take a left from Robinson Ave onto Gordon Hwy. Take a right onto Jimmy Dyess parkway to enter Gate 1.

From Belair Rd: Take Jimmy Dyess Parkway to Gate 1 on base. This becomes Chamberlain Ave. Follow to 25th street and take a left. Cross over Lane Ave. You'll come to a slight fork, veer left onto Range Road. Take a right at the stop sign. You'll pass the dog kennels/vet clinic and the stables will be on the right jsut after a curve.

From Tobacco Road (near Hephzibah): Enter Gate 5, which becomes Avenue of the States. Take a left onto North Range Road.At the stop sign, keep straight, crossing over Range Road keep going straight. Pass the dog kennels/vet clinic and the stables will be on the right, just after the curve.

Hello ladies!!!

Just a few reminders for the next meeting.
The topic has changed due to scheduling problems. We will be watching a video titled "She's Gonna Blow" by Julie Ann Barnhill.
Please remember to bring Cherrios for the Moppets if you are in the Joy group, and Goldfish if you are in the Love group. The Peace ? group is bringing the refreshments for the rest of us.
Please also bring a bag of individually wrapped candy for the Trick or Treat So Others Can Eat event on October 30th.

Keep in mind the Crop for MOPS on October 12th from 6pm to midnight. We'll have fliers for you to hand out to friends at the next meeting. The event is free, however we will be accepting donations. There is no child care for this event.

As a impromptu way of getting out of the house and out of the heat, Hillary (a dgl for this year) has suggested we all meet at Jumpin' Party Zone on Friday. MOPS is Coming!!!

Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you know that our first MOPS meeting for the 2007 to 2008 year is coming up fast! Are you ready??!!

We have a wonderful year planned. I am excited about the opportunities we have this year to get to know each other and to celebrate this season of mothering and womanhood in our lives. I'm coming out of a fresh time as I have had the summer off to prepare for and welcome our newest little blessing, Josiah. I can't wait for MOPS to get started.

A BIG thank you goes out to Annette, our co-coordinator, as she has seen to MOPS stuff while I took my small vacation.

I'm working on how to post the registration packets online so be patient as I learn my way around our new way of relaying information.
